The New Year seems to have started with a definite dip in temperature. It’s important therefore to make sure your little one stays snug and warm at night. However, do bear in mind that babies do not regulate their body temperatures as well as adults so make sure that they are dressed appropriately but do not overheat.
The Grobag Baby Sleep bag is available in 3 different tog ratings, a tog rating is a European warmth rating with 2.5tog being the warmest and suitable for most year round temperatures.
Check your nursery temperature at night using a room thermometer such as the Gro-egg colour changing thermometer, if your nursery is quite cold you can keep your baby warm by layering them up with a long sleeved bodysuit and sleep suit. If your child’s hand seem cold don’t worry too much, cold hands won’t normally wake a sleeping baby. If you do want to layer the arms up do make sure you don’t over layer the amount of clothing on the baby’s body as this could lead to overheating. A good way to check the body temperature is by touching their chest or the back of their neck if it feels hot and clammy, if this is the case then it’s important to reduce what your child is wearing or reduce the nursery temperature.
By paying attention to what clothing to use with a Grobag you and your child will be able to get a great night’s sleep, safe in the knowledge that they are wrapped warm and safe. If you’re unsure of what to dress your child in take a look at our quick guide. Please remember, though, that babies are all different, you will soon discover what your baby is most comfortable wearing.
Choosing a tog
A tog measurement is a European warmth rating: the higher the tog, the warmer the product. Grobag baby sleep bags are available in three tog ratings.

What to wear
What your baby wears will depend on the tog of Grobag baby sleep bag and the temperature of the baby's bedroom. (In the same way as you would adjust nightclothes and number of blankets). As a guide, please refer to the table below. Please remember, though, that babies are all different and, you will soon discover what your baby is most comfortable wearing -- placing your fingers on your baby's chest is the best indicator of whether they are too hot/too cold/just right as babies' hands often feel cool.
