We asked our creative director Lisa Joyce what the key trends are that are coming our way in 2012 and she’s come back with some fantastic insight into what we’ll be seeing and buying in 2012 plus an indication of what you can expect from Gro in the coming year, let us know if you think she’s got it right!

There are some fabulous trends and influences bubbling away for Spring/Summer 2012.

‘Celebration’
is a continuing trend from this summer with events like the Olympics and the lovely long Jubilee weekend to look forward to in 2012 the whole country is expected to be in the party mood. Celebration is an ever green trend in Nursery, with becoming a parent probably being one of most exiting life experiences and of course; new arrivals bringing families closer together- there’s a very special reason for a party! This ‘mood’ has influenced fashion with pretty party dresses for any occasion. Interior decoration with bold confident design and music with a festival thread. In nursery you’ll find fun and jolly themes like Fairs, Days Out, Parties and stories which are all about Fun!

‘Keepsake’ collectables and vintage heir looms influence this ever popular theme for SS12. Flea market finds meets charity shop treasures with a dash of something ‘new’. It’s a real mix of re-cycled fabrics with contemporary styling, classic, traditional tailoring with retro themes – it’s all about old and new! In fashion heritage brands, particularly British ones have a real buzz with fabulous Spring Summer collections, Music is all about creative, authentic sound with a nod to the ‘classics’, Even our past times have become vintage inspired with a resurgence in vintage activities like country fairs, tea dances and street parties!  Babies bring out the nostalgic romantic side of all new parents looking for classic nursery story themes, vintage toys and childhood memories – we’re launching two gorgeous bags for Spring/ Summer that sits perfectly in this theme, you’ll just have to wait until next year to see our interpretation of the trend!

‘Super Simple’
is the no-fuss utilitarian trend that counters the last decade of disposal fashion and product!  People don’t just consume anymore, they invest. Quality is absolutely key here. Functionality, ease of use, simplicity and modern form driving this trend, people don’t get distracted by the pretty stuff in the same way as before. This trend has a slightly nostalgic slant in that we are looking for reassurance in our products, is it going to last? Will this product perform? New parents want the very best for their child and really want to research and understand that the purchases they make will do exactly what they need from it. We think our products fit the bill here and hope our commitment to quality gives parents the confidence to make that investment in a Grobag or other sleep products.
